The currently worrying state of Rangers F.C.

The Rangers Supporters’ Trust, Rangers Supporters Assembly and Rangers Supporters Association united today, (Sunday 7th February 2010), in expressing alarm at recent comments made by the club's Manager, Walter Smith: "anybody who thinks it is going to get better in the summer is deluding themselves. My concerns for Rangers for the long term - not even in the long term, for the end of the season - are genuine concerns as being a supporter as much as being a manager."

We call on Rangers fans to stand shoulder to shoulder with Walter Smith and we ask all fans to show public support for the Manager and join us on February 14th at Ibrox where fans will express their frustration at the club's current situation.

All fans' groups are united in seeking a public announcement from the Club Chairman on the precise remit and intent of both Donald Muir (the enemy within) and Lloyds Banking Group, regarding the future of Rangers Football Club.

Finally we ask parties who have expressed an interest in buying into Rangers FC to now come forward publicly with an outline of their plans, specifically on how the Rangers support can be involved and help overcome barriers to a successful, sustainable transfer of ownership which will secure the Club's future."

While we will all as individuals have our own views on who is to blame for our current predicament, (and indeed some of us might even sympathise with Donald Muir given his lifelong support for our Club we must nevertheless acknowledge that whether he is the representative of Lloyds Bank or conversely the representative of Murray International Holdings that we, the supporters of the club need to be told exactly what is going on and while, being 400 miles away from Ibrox it will be difficult for most of us to show our support on the 14th February I believe that it is important that we as Rangers Supporters do what we can to support our fellow Rangers Supporters and that we stand as one, shoulder to shoulder with our colleagues across the Rangers fraternity to ensure that we maintain our rightful position at the pinnacle of Scottish football.

Those who post on ‘follow follow’ will be well aware of my personal views on who is primarily at fault for our current woes and suffice is to say that it is not Lloyds Banking Group however irrespective of whether I am wrong and they are ‘the enemy’ or whether it is Murray one thing is for sure, Muir is currently the Board Member representing either or and as such warrants the attention he is being given albeit that we should perhaps also be asking Alastair Johnston who after all is our Chairman.

Notwithstanding who is at fault in all of this what is most important is that we do what we can to ensure the future of Rangers F.C. remembering always that ‘we are the people’.
